Mary E. Sarotte is the Kravis Professor in the Kissinger Center of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Her six books include the trilogy 1989: the Struggle to Create Post-Cold War Europe, The Collapse: the Accidental Opening of the Berlin Wall and Not One Inch: America, Russia, and the Making of Post-Cold War Stalemate, which were named Financial Times Books of the Year in 2009 and 2014. Sarotte earned her BA at Harvard University and her PhD at Yale University.
