Elisabeth Kieven is an art historian. Her research concentrates on Italian, especially Roman,architecture of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and its international impact, with a focus on architectural drawings. From 1999 until her retirement in 2014 she was co-director of the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome. Among her publicationsare Ferdinando Fuga e l’architettura Romana nel Settecento (1988), Von Bernini bis Piranesi:Römische Architekturzeichnungen des Barock (1993), Storia dell’architettura italiana: il settecento with G.
