Stina Otterberg Engdahl

Stina Otterberg Engdahl has a PhD in literary studies, and her main interests are literary criticism, essays and poetry. Her doctoral thesis, ‘Klädd i sitt språk: Kritikern Olof Lagercrantz’ (2010), won the Swedish association Svenska Humanistiska Förbundet’s Prize and the Kurt Aspelin Memorial Fund Prize. She received the City of Gothenburg’s Essay Prize for her book ‘Älska, dricka, sjunga, leva, dö: En essä om Erik Axel Karlfeldt’ (2014). Otterberg Engdahl previously worked as an assistant professor in the liberal arts programme at Gothenburg University, as editor of the digitisation project Swedish Prose Fiction 1800–1900, and as a member of the Swedish Arts Council’s working group for non-fiction. She has written literary criticism since the 1990s and been affiliated with the publications Arbetarbladet, Bonniers Litterära Magasin, Svenska Dagbladet and DN Kultur. She has also written criticism and essays for the Swedish Literature Bank and for the publications Örnen och Kråkan, Respons and Nordisk Tidskrift. Otterberg Engdahl has been on the jury that hands out Sweden’s August Prize for fiction, sat on the jury for Dagens Nyheter’s Critics’ Award, and chaired the jury for the Karlfeldt Prize. Her most recent book is ‘Olof Lagercrantz verk 1951–1975: En kommenterad bibliograf’ (2023).
