Jonathan Cedernaes

Jonathan Cedernaes is a licensed physician, has a PhD in medicine and is an associate professor in medical cell biology. He carries out research at Northwestern University in Chicago and at Uppsala University, where he also leads his own research group. Cedernaes has been awarded a number of grants for independent research, including a multi-year NIH grant and a major grant from the Göran Gustafsson Foundation for Research in Natural Sciences and Medicine. In his research, Cedernaes studies how too little sleep and shift work affect a person’s metabolism in order to understand how this can increase the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
