Per Wästberg

Per Wästberg debuted in 1949 with his short story collection Pojke med såpbubblor and since then has published some ten novels, including ‘Halva kungariket’, ‘Luftburen’, ‘Bergets källa’ and ‘Anders Sparrmans’ resa. In addition, he has produced documentary accounts from southern Africa, essays and biographies – most recently ‘Den ständige: Bernhard von Beskows liv och verk’ (2025). In ‘Utsikt från stol 12’, he presented portraits of his predecessors in the Swedish Academy. His memoirs were released in five volumes 2006–2017. He was editor in chief of Dagens Nyheter 1976–1982 and president of PEN International 1979–1986.
