Andrei Znamenski

Andrei Znamenski has studied history and anthropology in Russia and the United States. He is currently professor of History at the University of Memphis, Tennessee, where he teaches World History surveys, History of Eurasia, and Modern Europe. Znamenski has authored several books, including The Beauty of the Primitive: Shamanism and Western Imagination (2007), Red Shambhala: Magic, Prophecy, and Geopolitics in the Heart of Asia (2011) and most recently Socialism as a Secular Creed: a Modern Global History (2021). He has also contributed to journals like The Soviet and Post-Soviet Review, The Independent Review, European Studies Journal and more.
