Angela Sumegi

Angela Sumegi is a religious studies scholar with the College of the Humanities, Carleton University, Ottawa. She is currently an adjunct research professor in humanities and religion, and prior to retirement she was associate professor of religion. Her academic areas include Indian and Tibetan Buddhism, the interface between shamanic and Buddhist systems, and religious responses to death. Her publications include Understanding Death: an Introduction to Ideas of Self and Afterlife in World Religions (2014, 2nd ed 2024) and Dream Worlds of Shamanism and Tibetan Buddhism: the Third Place (2008).
