Anthony Pagden

Anthony Pagden is a professor in the Departments of Political Science and History at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been a reader in modern intellectual history and fellow of King’s College, Cambridge, and the Harry C Black professor of history at Johns Hopkins University, and has held positions at Oxford, the Warburg Institute, the European University Institute and Harvard. He is the author of The Enlightenment: Why it Still Matters (2013), The Pursuit of Europe: a History (2022) and Beyond States, Powers, Peoples and Global Order (2024).
