Irene Stratenwerth, born in 1954, studied pedagogics and has worked for more than twenty years as a journalist and writer for various publications (including Die Wande and Brigitte), radio and TV.
She has been the editor and author of a large number of works of non-fiction on themes related to health, society, cultural history and psychology and was the curator of the exhibitions Alle meine Pfade rangen mit der Nacht: Jakob van Hoddis/Hans Davidsohn 1887–1942 (2001) and Pioniere in Celluloid: Juden in der frühen Filmwelt (2004) for the foundation Neue Synagoge – Centrum Judaicum Berlin. Together with Ronald Hinrichs, she developed the exhibition project ‘Wo ist Lemberg?’, which served as the basis for the book Lemberg: Eine Reise nach Europa.
