Jesper Svartvik is a Church of Sweden minister and a member of the Church Assembly’s Standing Commission on Doctrine, of which he has been deputy chairman since 2014.
In 2000, he received his doctorate in Bible studies and from 2009 to 2018 was the first to occupy the Krister Stendahl Chair in Theology of Religions at Lund University and the Swedish Theological Institute in Jerusalem. In 2019, he assumed the position of diocesan theologian at the Diocese of Karlstad. Between 2005 and 2009, he was chairman of the Swedish Committee Against Antisemitism.
