Ola Wikander

Ola Wikander is an associate professor and senior lecturer in Old Testament Exegesis at Lund University, a historical linguist and writer. He has specialised in the history of Northwest Semitic languages, Northwest Semitic poetic motifs in the Hebrew Bible and cultural contacts between Semitic and Indo-European peoples in antiquity. He has also published numerous collections of essays that popularise these subjects, such as ’I döda språks sällskap: En bok om väldigt gamla språk’ (2006), ’Gud är ett verb: Tankar om Gamla Testamentet och dess idéhistoria’ (2014) and ’Ett hav i mäktig rörelse: Om de semitiska språken’ (2019), as well as literary fiction – most recently his collection of fantasy literature, ’Stjärnan, gryningens son’ (2024).
