Tessel M. Bauduin

Dr Tessel M. Bauduin is Assistant Professor in Art History at the Open University, the Netherlands, and author of the monograph Surrealism and the Occult. She has further published on modern art, international Surrealism and Surrealism in the Netherlands, occultism and automatism, and Hilma af Klint, among other things. Dr Bauduin has co-edited two books: Surrealism, Occultism and Politics: In Search of the Marvellous and The Occult in Modernist Art, Literature and Cinema; as well as two special issues of periodicals: ‘The Canonisation of Modernism’ in The Journal of Art Historiography, and ‘Modernism in Migration’ in Stedelijk Studies. A laureate of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research’s VI-programme for Excellence in Research, she has done a study of the reception of Old Masters of Surrealism.
