Folktro : en besjälad värld

Allt sedan Max Webers berömda tes om Entzauberung der Welt avförtrollningen av världen i ljuset av religionens tillbakagång i samband med upplysning och vetenskapliga framsteg, har många forskare laborerat med tesen om en successiv allmän sekularisering. Förnuftets ljus skulle just avförtrolla världen och göra den alltmer kontrollerbar och begriplig för människan. Dock lever tron på en meningsfull besjälad värld, som på gott och ont ingriper i människans liv på ett meningsfullt sätt, vidare sida vid sida med naturvetenskapliga framsteg inom många kulturer. Vilka likheter och skillnader återfinns i folktron världen över och vilken roll har folktron spelat under historiens utveckling?
