Swedish Grace : en bortglömd modernism

Swedish Grace är en term som av samtiden myntades för att beteckna nyklassisk svensk design. Stockholms Stadsbibliotek, Uppståndelsekapellet på Skogskyrkogården och Stockholms konserthus tillhör den mest uppskattade arkitekturen i Sverige. I den här antologin diskuterar specialister olika perspektiv på Swedish Grace och visar på aspekter som har relevans även idag.

Swedish Grace är en term som av samtiden myntades för att beteckna nyklassisk svensk design från 1910- och 1920-talen. De mest representativa byggnaderna från denna epok, som Stockholms stadsbibliotek av Gunnar Asplund, Uppståndelsekapellet av Sigurd Lewerentz och Stockholms konserthus av Ivar Tengbom, är alla världsberömda, och det mesta av det som byggdes under perioden tillhör den mest uppskattade arkitekturen i Sverige. I den här antologin diskuterar specialister från såväl Sverige som andra länder olika perspektiv på Swedish Grace och visar på aspekter som har relevans även idag.

Helena Kåberg has a PhD in architectural and design historian, she is an associate professor in the Department of Art History at Uppsala University.

Javier Cenicacelaya is a professor at Universidad del País Vasco, UPV/EHU and an architect.

Johan Rådberg (1942–2010) was Professor of Architecture and the Built Environment at the Faculty of Engineering, Lund University.

Johan Örn is a historian of architecture and a critic, as well as curator at Sweden’s National Centre of Architecture and Design.

Karin Winter is an architect of interior design and has been the superintendent of the main exhibition hall of Sweden’s National Centre of Architecture and Design.

Kristina Knauff has a PhD in Architectural History and specialises in 20th century architecture, scenography and cultural history.

Luca Ortelli is a professor at EPFL, ENAC School of Architecture in Lausanne, and in charge of their laboratory for construction and conservation.

Robert Adam is an architect, professor and one of the founders of ADAM Architecture, a company that specialise in traditional architecture.

Thomas Hellquist is Professor Emeritus of Architecture and Design.
