Kurt Almqvist is CEO at the Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for Public Benefit.
During the years 2013–2019, he initiated an extensive seminar series that accompanied the exhibition Hilma af Klint – Pioneer of Abstraction worldwide. He became CEO of the non-profit foundation in 1999 and has subsequently developed the business by, among other things, taking initiatives for Axess Magasin and Axess TV as well as the Engelsberg Seminar, which invites researchers from all over the world to Sweden every year. Under his leadership, the foundation's international activities have developed through collaborations with the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Kings College London, the London School of Economics and others, in subjects such as War Studies, Applied History, Classical Architecture, and Statecraft and Diplomacy.
