Herbert Butterfield

Herbert Butterfield (1900–1979), brittisk historiker och Regius Professor of Modern History vid University of Cambridge. Mest känd är han för The Whig Interpretation of History (1931) som kritiserar de teleologiska aspekterna av ”Whig”-synsättet på historia. Han mottog tretton akademiska hederstitlar, bland annat Litterarum Doctor från Cambridge år 1974.
