Carina Burman, an author and associate professor of literature studies, received a doctorate in 1988 for her thesis on the prose eloquence of the Swedish author Johan Henric Kellgren.
She made her literary debut in 1993 with her historical novel Min salig bror Jean Hendrich. Since then she has published seven novels – often metaliterary – and a large number of nonfiction works. These include four noted biographies: Bremer: en biografi, K.J.: en biografi över Klara Johanson, Djävulspakten: Gösta Ekmans liv och konstnärskap and Bellman: biografin.
