Michael Burleigh var under 2019/20 Engelsberg Chair Professor of History and International Affairs vid den utrikespolitiska tankesmedjan LSE IDEAS som är knuten till London School of Economics. Burleigh har skrivit bland annat Moral Combat: A history of World War II; Small Wars, Far Away Places: The genesis of the modern world 1945–65; Populism: Before and after the pandemic och Day of the Assassins: A history of political murder.
