Nils Billing

Nils Billing är professor i religionshistoria vid Teologiska institutionen, Uppsala universitet. År 2003 doktorerade han i egyptologi med avhandlingen Nut: The Goddess of Life in Text and Iconography. Sin andra doktorsexamen, i religionshistoria, erhöll han 2013. I The Performative Structure: Ritualizing the Pyramid of Pepy I, undersöker han, i en analys och tolkning av texter i kung Pepy I:s pyramid från ca 2300 f.v.t., hur arkitekturens formspråk i kombination med text och bild skapade en rumsligt förankrad rituell verksamhet. Under arbetstiteln ”Dressed for Eternity: Mummy Bandages with the Book of the Dead in the Uppsala University Collection ” bearbetar han för närvarande en stor samling mumiebindor med fornegyptiska texter ur Dödsboken.
