Richard J. Evans är Regius Professor Emeritus of History vid University of Cambridge, och var tidigare provost för Gresham College i London. Han är fellow i British Academy, grundande fellow i Learned Society of Wales och fellow i Royal Society of Literature. Han har bland annat skrivit böcker om Tredje riket, In Defence of History och The Pursuit of Power: Europe 1815–1914, en av volymerna i Penguin-serien The History of Europe.
