Wouter J. Hanegraaff är Professor of History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents vid Universiteit van Amsterdam och ledamot i Kungliga nederländska konst- och vetenskapsakademin. Han har bland annat skrivit New Age Religion and Western Culture: Esotericism in the mirror of secular thought; Esotericism and the Academy: Rejected knowledge in Western culture; Western Esotericism: A guide for the perplexed och Altered States of Knowledge: Hermetic spirituality and the scholarly imagination.
